Bhabha Pass Trek

Day 1: Team Arrives in Rampur
The meeting place for the group in Rampur. We expect the group to arrive in the morning and early afternoon to allow for enough rest hours before the trek begins. Group will check in at a local Guest house for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Rampur to Kafnu
Today is a fairly relaxed day as it only involves driving. We will pass through Sarahan, if time permits we will visit the famous Bhima Kali Temple. Arrive at Kafnu in the afternoon and camp overnight.

Day 3: Kafnu to Mulling
First part of the walk is all along the Bhba River but slowly the trail climbs through the incredible mixed Cedar Forests. On the way we pass though few old wooden houses in the middle of the forest. On the way we get introduced to an amazing variety of Himalayan Flora. Slowly the Valley opens into an inredible meadow located at the bank of the River Bhaba, carpeted with variety of alpine flowers it is set in a beautiful galde amidst Cedar trees.

Day 4: Mulling to Pistrang
Start on a flat meadow, with alpine flowers all around. The trail narrows as oyu reach the junction of two streams, with rare Himalayan Blur Poppy Flowers in the middle of the rocks. We then cross the stream that you have been following from the campsite, keeping this stream to you right; continue climbing up till you reach the open pasture grounds of Kahra. From Kahra we enter into the left valley. As we climb gradually up the valley, the valley gets a bit narrower but the scenery wins one’s heart with the alpine flowers on the valley floor and waterfalls on the adjoining hills. Camp at the base of the pass.

Day 5: Pistrang to Phaldar via Bhaba Pass
Climbing steeply, the going is rugged for most of the day, there is no defined path, walking over moraine, scree, boulders and a push through the snowfields to the top. The top of the pass offers great contrast to both sides, Towards Spiti, it is the chocolate colored barren mountains and to the Kinnaur side it is all green. In few meters, no place on earth can create such a difference in the vegetation as Bhaba Pass. First part of the descent involves ice for around hundred meters. The later part is descending through the moraine till we get to the bottom. From here it is another half an hour through the boulders then we enter the main valley. To the left, anpthe valley makes its way through the Pin Parvati Pass. The valley here expands to all sides with amazing color of mountains surrounding from all sides. One and a half hours of more journey through the impressive surroundings takes one to Phaldar.

Day 6: Phaldar to Mud
Today’s trek is all the way through the Pin Valley. The landscape here is dry and barren with mountains of different color. Suddenly we catch the sight of a green patch right in the front later we discover few houses. Set in the completely barren surroundings the Village of Mud is like an oasis in the desert. The village of Mud lies across the Pin River. The Village gompa is set impressively on a cliff between two streams.

Day 7: Mud to Kaza (Dhankar Monastery)
After breakfast we leave for Kaza, en-route we will visit the Dhankar Monastery. It is about 1100 years old. The monastery is dedicated to Maitreya Buddha (Future Buddha). The place offers magnificent views of the valley.

Day 8: Rest Day in Kaza (ki and kibber)
Today we visit Ki Monastery, which is about 15 kms from camp at the height of 4100m. This monastery is also dedicated to the Maitreya Buddha and the current presiding head of the Monastery is Rimpoche Rinchen Zangpo the 19th. Here you can see some magnificent art work and Thanka Paintings brought over from Tibet nearly 600 years ago. There is also an option of visiting the village of Kibber (4270m), one of the highest inhabited villages in the world. Perched on a vast stretch of land and surrounded by mountains of limestone rocks, the view from here is truly breathtaking.
After Lunch at camp, we can go to Kaza town.

Day 9: Kaza to Chandratal
Leave from Kaza after breakfast. We will drive through a number of small villages. This stretch of road also has some excellent views to look out for and it definitely is a Landscape Photographer’s Paradise. The light conditions are just excellent. We over the Kunzum La pass (4551m) today. We take a respectful circular drive around the shrine of Goddess Kunzum and continue for Chandratal.

Day 10: Handratal to Manali
Today is another day of spectacular drive. We enjoy the splendid view of the Chandra- Bhaga mountain range from here. The road upto Manali will present you with some amazing views of Glaciers and snowcapped peaks. We also go across another high pass the Rohtang Pass (4050m), and drive down into Kullu Valley.
